Can I rebuild my credit after filing for bankruptcy?

Yes. After the bankruptcy discharge, many debtors receive notices for credit cards. Purchasing items on the credit card and paying off the full balance is a great way to rebuild your credit. It is the same with a secured debt. If you are consistently paying a reaffirmed debt, then it will assist you in rebuilding your credit.

Can I buy a home after filing for bankruptcy?

With properties, most banks require at least two to three years to pass from the filing of the bankruptcy before you can purchase a home. By filing for bankruptcy, you are allowing yourself breathing room to save money for the downpayment on your new home rather than trying to catch up with the credit card debt.

When will bill collectors and creditors stop calling me?

When you file for bankruptcy, "automatic stay" is established. This is a "roadblock" that prevents creditors from taking certain actions. However, the creditors can ask permission for this "roadblock" to be removed after you file for bankruptcy.
